Unlike traditional certifications, the BEE registration process or getting an energy star rating has two levels:

Brand Level Certification or BEE brand registration: A brand's BEE certification level. It's a vast encompassing registration.

Model Level Registration or BEE model Registration: At the model level, all the products under the BEE registered brand gain BEE certification separately.

Once you have cleared the certification process at both BEE status levels, only then you get complete registration.

As for the process, BEE certification in India has three traditional steps:

1. Application: The first step in the BEE certification process is to submit an application to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The application form can be obtained from the BEE website or its regional offices. The application form requires information such as the brand name, product category, manufacturing facilities, and other relevant details.

2. Testing and Verification: After submitting the application, the next step is to undergo testing and verification of the products. This process is carried out by BEE-approved testing laboratories or agencies. The products are tested according to the relevant BEE standards and guidelines to assess their energy efficiency and performance.

3. Certification and Registration: Once the testing and verification process is complete, and the products meet the required energy efficiency standards, the BEE issues a certificate of compliance. This certificate confirms that the products have obtained the BEE certification. The brand is then registered with the BEE as a BEE-certified brand.
