In New Delhi, on the 6th of December, 2023, the government has issued a new regulation to uphold the quality of specific bags designed for packaging 25 kg of polymer materials. This regulation, titled the Textiles - High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging of 25 kg Polymer Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2023, is set to take effect after a 180-day period from its announcement. It is applicable to certain bags specified in the attached list, excluding those intended for export. These bags must comply with the corresponding Indian Standard outlined in the list and bear a Standard Mark, acquired through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and ensuring compliance with this regulation, ensuring that the bags meet the required quality standards. The government, in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, deems these measures essential for the public interest, emphasizing the need for quality control in the production of such bags.
