BIS certificate for Import Steel Products No Objection Certificate (NOC) 

Steel items must bear the ISI (Indian Standards Institute) mark in order to receive BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. The primary goal of the ISI mark is to guarantee that the product is pure, faultless, and of a high caliber. Some steel goods, however, are still not required to be certified. Only the Ministry of Steel's necessary certification (NOC - most recent OACC certification), which is required for import and customs, is needed for these items.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) already requires a certification for a small number of steel items (about 145).

Steel goods that are required to be certified shall display the ISI mark in accordance with BIS standards. Offering steel products of the highest quality and products with zero defects is the primary goal of the ISI mark. Certain steel goods are still excluded from the requirement for certification, nevertheless. For import and customs clearance, certain steel items simply need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Steel.

 

List Of Steel Products That Are Under Mandatory Bis Certification

The steel products whose specifications are identical to any Mandatory Indian Standard of Steel but not exactly match with this Standard. In this case, the importer required clarification/exemption from the Ministry of Steel on each consignment coming to India, which is called NOC.
