INSULATED FLASK, BOTTLES, AND CONTAINERS FOR DOMESTIC USE (QUALITY CONTROL) ORDER, 2023
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued an important Order with the aim to regulate the quality of such products. This Order will come into effect after six months from the date of the notification. Small Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, will have nine months to comply, while Micro Enterprises will have twelve months.
The Order requires that goods or articles listed in the Table must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard specified in column (3) of the Table, and they should bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. However, this Order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. Moreover, enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal" of the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, meeting the specified investment and turnover criteria, shall be exempted from the implementation of this order.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be responsible for certification and enforcement. Non-compliance with this Order will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
