Dear Viewer,
Block boards are engineered wood panels composed of a core made from strips of wood sandwiched between layers of veneer. They are widely used in furniture, partitions, and construction due to their strength and versatility.
Order to Change BIS Quality Control for Block Boards IS 1659:2004 In line with IS 1659:2004, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has put out a new Quality Control Order (QCO) for Block Boards. As of February 11, 2025, this order requires products to meet Indian Standards to make sure they are of good quality. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is in charge of implementing the rules. Following this order without following the rules is illegal according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Small and micro enterprises have different due dates for compliance. Small enterprises have to comply by May 11, 2025, and micro enterprises have to comply by August 11, 2025. Except for acts taken before this order went into effect, the old rules are no longer in effect. Manufacturers must follow this QCO in order to get the Standard Mark from the Bureau and properly do business in the Indian market.
