The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues Quality Control Order (QCO) for Canvas Boots with Rubber Sole, IS 3736:1995. Effective from August 1, 2024, this mandate requires conformity to the specified Indian Standard and the use of the Standard Mark. BIS oversees certification and enforcement, ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks. Exceptions include export goods and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Manufacturers with existing non-compliant stock can sell until June 30, 2025. The QCO aims to enhance product quality, safety, and consumer confidence, promoting standardized production and market competitiveness in the footwear industry.
