The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued an amendment to the Quality Control Order (QCO) for Canvas Shoes with Rubber Sole (IS 3735:1996). Effective from August 1, 2024, this order mandates that all canvas shoes with rubber soles conform to the specified Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under BIS license. The BIS shall enforce certification, ensuring compliance with quality standards for these footwear products, except for those designated for export or manufactured by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Manufacturers with existing uncertified stock may sell or display it until June 30, 2025, upon prior declaration to the BIS.
