Dear Viewer,
The BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for Insulated Flasks for Domestic Use ensures that insulated flasks, bottles, and containers meet specific quality standards for domestic use. This includes standards for thermal insulation, material quality, and safety. The aim is to provide consumers with reliable and safe products for storing and carrying hot or cold beverages and food items.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has released a new Quality Control Order (QCO) for Insulated Flasks, Bottles, and Containers for Domestic Use, effective from 5th March 2024. Under this order, products must adhere to Indian Standards specified in IS 17790:2022. The order mandates the compulsory use of Standard Marks and certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Small enterprises have a grace period of six months, while micro-enterprises have nine months before the order becomes applicable to them. Non-compliance will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This order replaces the previous order from 2023.
