Dear Viewer,
Medium density fibre boards (MDF) are engineered wood panels made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into fibres, often combined with wax and resin, and formed into panels under high temperature and pressure. MDF boards are versatile and suitable for various applications including furniture, cabinetry, and moulding.
Order to Change BIS Quality Control for Medium density fibre boards for general purpose, IS 12406:2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has put out a new Quality Control Order (QCO) for Block Boards. As of February 11, 2025, this order requires products to meet Indian Standards to make sure they are of good quality. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is in charge of implementing the rules. Following this order without following the rules is illegal according to the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. Small and micro enterprises have different due dates for compliance. Small enterprises have to comply by May 11, 2025, and micro enterprises have to comply by August 11, 2025. Except for acts taken before this order went into effect, the old rules are no longer in effect. Manufacturers must follow this QCO in order to get the Standard Mark from the Bureau and properly do business in the Indian market.
