Dear Viewer,
The BIS Quality Control Amendment Order applies to potable water bottles made of copper, stainless steel, and aluminum, following the Indian Standard IS 17803:2022. These bottles are essential for safe drinking water storage and are subject to quality standards to ensure consumer safety. The order mandates adherence to specified standards and the use of Standard Marks under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a new Potable Water Bottles (Quality Control) Order effective from March 5, 2024, superseding the previous order. This order mandates compliance with Indian Standard IS 17803:2022 for potable water bottles made of copper, stainless steel, and aluminum. It requires the use of Standard Marks issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Scheme-1 of Schedule II. Small enterprises must comply within six months, while micro-enterprises have nine months for compliance. Non-compliance will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
