IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS BIS AMENDMENT ORDER FOR THE LAURIC ACID IS 10931:1984
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, specifically the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, has issued an order in New Delhi on October 19, 2023. Using the authority granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act IS 10931:1984, 2016, the Central Government, in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, deems it necessary to make an amendment to the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2022. The amended order, titled the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023, or BIS amendment order for the lauric acid comes into effect on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. The key change is in paragraph 1 of the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2022, where a new sub-paragraph (2) states that the order will be in force from the 24th day of October 2024.
To ensure compliance, Lauric Acid products must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 10931:1984 and carry the Standard Mark, which requires a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as outlined in Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
New Delhi, the 19th October, 2023 S.O. 4608(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do in the public interest, hereby makes the following amendment to the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2022, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement.─ (1) This Order may be called the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023. (2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2022, in paragraph 1, for sub-paragraph (2), the following subparagraph shall be substituted, namely:- “(2) This order shall come into force on the 24th day of April, 2024”
