Enacted under the authority granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, this order is deemed necessary in the public interest after consultations with the Bureau of Indian Standards.

The order named as BIS QCO for the bottled water dispensers IS 17681:2022, outlines that it shall come into force six months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. It emphasizes the compulsory adherence to specific Indian Standards IS 17681:2022, as mentioned in the provided table, and requires goods or articles to bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. However, domestic goods or articles manufactured for export purposes are exempt from these regulations.
