BIS QCO FOR THE COPPER PRODUCTS (COPPER STRIP FOR ELECTRICAL PURPOSES)

The Indian government, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued an important order called the "Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023." According to the order, all copper products falling under the specified categories must conform to the corresponding Indian Standards mentioned in the order. To indicate compliance, these products should bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). However, this order titled BIS QCO for the copper products (copper strip for electrical purposes) does not apply to goods produced domestically for export purposes.

Additionally, the order named BIS QCO for the copper products (copper strip for electrical purposes) includes provisions related to micro and small enterprises, defining timelines for compliance based on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006. The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with the order.

Non-compliance with the provisions outlined in this order is subject to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. The government emphasizes the importance of adhering to these quality control measures for the benefit of public interest.
