BIS QCO FOR THE COPPER PRODUCTS (COPPER RODS AND BARS FOR ELECTRICAL PURPOSES)

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, specifically the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued an order in New Delhi on October 17th, 2023. This order, known as the Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023, is designed to ensure the quality of copper products in the public's interest. It will take effect six months from its publication in the Official Gazette. The order states that goods listed in the Table must meet the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned and display the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau.

According to BIS QCO for the copper products (copper rods and bars for electrical purposes) it's important to note that this order doesn't apply to goods made domestically for export. Micro-enterprises need to comply within twelve months, and small enterprises within nine months from the publication date. The Bureau is assigned as the authority to certify and enforce compliance for the specified goods. Violating this order will result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, emphasizing the government's commitment to maintaining quality standards in the copper product industry for the benefit of the public.
