This directive, known as the Copper Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023, has been established using the authority provided by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

According to BIS QCO for the copper products (copper tubes for plumbing- specification), there are a couple of exceptions to keep in mind. This directive does not apply to goods or articles produced within the country for export purposes. Additionally, micro-enterprises have twelve months from the publication date to comply, while small enterprises have nine months.

The certification and enforcement authority for the specified goods or articles is vested in the Bureau. It's important to note that anyone found violating the provisions of this directive may face penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
