The Indian government, specifically the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has created a new rule in New Delhi, exercising its powers under a law called the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This rule, named the Electrical Appliance for Domestic Clothes Washing (Quality Control) Order, 2023, is designed to ensure the safety and quality of appliances used for washing clothes at home. It's called the Electrical Appliance for Domestic Clothes Washing (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

BIS QCO for the electrical appliance for domestic clothes washing starts working six months after it's officially announced. The rule says that things listed in a table need to follow a specific Indian Standard mentioned in the same table and should have a mark called the Standard Mark. To get this mark, they need a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following certain rules made in 2018.

According to BIS QCO for the electrical appliance for domestic clothes washing there are exceptions for things made in the country to be sent abroad, and different timelines for smaller businesses called micro and small enterprises. Small enterprises need to follow this rule after nine months from its announcement, while micro enterprises need to follow it after twelve months.

The Bureau of Indian Standards will check and enforce these rules for the things listed in the table. If someone breaks these rules, they can be punished under the law. BIS QCO for the electrical appliance for domestic clothes washing aims to make sure that appliances used for domestic clothes washing meet certain quality standards for the well-being of consumers. This rule also says that every gadget made for washing clothes at home must follow a specific guideline called Indian Standard 302 (Part 2 or Sec 7): 2010.
