Dear Viewer,
THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE). IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (BIS QCO) FOR DOOR FITTINGS, FOCUSING ON RIM LATCHES.
23rd OCTOBER 2023
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, particularly the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has introduced a new regulation in New Delhi on October 23, 2023. With the authority granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, the Central Government, in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, deems it crucial for public interest. This newly introduced rule is named the Door Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
In accordance with the stipulations of the order, it is mandated that particular goods, as detailed in the provided table, must strictly conform to the corresponding Indian Standards. Furthermore, these goods are required to display a Standard Mark, obtained under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standard, in accordance with Scheme-1 as outlined in Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Notably, exemptions are granted for goods manufactured within the country intended for export purposes.
Micro enterprises are provided with a twelve-month window for compliance, while small enterprises are granted a nine-month period from the publication date to ensure adherence to these regulations.
The Bureau of Indian Standard serves as the certifying and enforcing authority for these standards, and any violation of this order may result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This regulation specifically pertains to the BIS QCO for the Door Fittings (Rim Latches).
