The Government of India, under the authority granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, issues the following order: This order is named the Electrical Appliance Fans (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

According to the BIS QCO for electrical appliance fans every electrical fan must meet a particular Indian Standard, known as IS 302 (Part 2 or Sec 80): 2017.It becomes effective six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.

Goods listed in column (1) of the Table must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned in column (2). A Standard Mark must be displayed, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Certain exceptions apply for goods made domestically for export.

According to the BIS QCO for electrical appliance fans for micro-enterprises, it takes effect twelve months from the date of publication, and for small enterprises, it takes effect nine months from the date of publication. The Bureau of Indian Standards is the authority responsible for certifying and enforcing the standards outlined in the Table. Violating the provisions of this order leads to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
