THIS CONCERNS THE RECENT UPDATE FROM MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE), REGARDING BIS QCO FOR THE DOOR FITTINGS (FLOOR SPRINGS (HYDRAULICALLY REGULATED) FOR HEAVY DOORS)

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, specifically the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued a new rule in New Delhi on October 23, 2023. Using the authority granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, the Central Government, after consulting with the Bureau of Indian Standards, believes it's important for the public interest. They've named this rule the Door Fittings (Quality Control) Order, 2023.

The order named BIS QCO for the door fittings (floor springs (hydraulically regulated) for heavy doors) states that certain goods mentioned in the provided table must meet corresponding Indian Standards and carry a Standard Mark. This mark is obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

According to BIS QCO for the door fittings (floor springs (hydraulically regulated) for heavy doors) there are exceptions for goods manufactured domestically for export purposes. Micro enterprises have a twelve-month window, while small enterprises have nine months from the publication date for compliance. The Bureau of Indian Standards is the authority for certifying and enforcing these standards, and violating this order could lead to penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
