BIS (QUALITY CONTROL) AMENDMENT ORDER FOR THE COCONUT FATTY ACIDS

On the 19th day of October 2023, a crucial decision was made by the Central Government in New Delhi. This decision, backed by the authority granted under section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act IS 12069: 1987, 2016 (11 of 2016), comes after thorough consultations with the Bureau of Indian Standards. The government, considering the necessity and public interest, has introduced an amendment to the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022. This amendment is officially titled the Coconut Fatty Acids IS 12069: 1987 (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023.

The purpose of this amendment is to regulate and enhance the quality standards of coconut fatty acids. To give it a formal identity, it is referred to as the Coconut Fatty Acids IS 12069: 1987 (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2023. This order, effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, emphasizes the importance of ensuring quality control for coconut fatty acids. The amendment specifically targets paragraph 1 of the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022, proposing a substitution for sub-paragraph (2). According to the new sub-paragraph, this order will be in force from the 24th day of April 2024. This measure is implemented to uphold the quality and standards of coconut fatty acids, aligning with the government's commitment to public well-being.
