BIS QCO For Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Fasteners - Threaded Steel Fastener - Step Bolts for Steel Structures)

On July 21, 2023, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, issued an Order in New Delhi. This Order, known as The Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2023, is effective six months from its publication date, with variations for Small Enterprises and Micro Enterprises.

The BIS QCO for the bolts, nuts and fasteners threaded steel fastener - step bolts for steel structures mandates the use of a Standard Mark for specified goods or articles, requiring them to conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau. However, certain exceptions are outlined, such as for goods manufactured domestically for export, imported goods as part of finished products, and goods imported for manufacturing products for export. Additionally, the BIS QCO for the bolts, nuts and fasteners threaded steel fastener - step bolts for steel structures provides exemptions for goods manufactured domestically by enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal" of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. These enterprises, with limited investment and turnover, are exempted from implementing the relevant Quality Control Order.

The Bureau is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the specified goods or articles.
