The government in New Delhi, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued an order named "The Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2023," becomes effective six months from its publication date. However, for Small Enterprises, it starts after nine months, and for Micro Enterprises, it starts after twelve months from the publication date.

The BIS QCO for the bolts, nuts and fasteners flush bolts 5187:1972 makes it compulsory for goods or articles listed in the table to follow specific Indian Standards and bear a Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau. There are exceptions for goods manufactured for export, goods imported as part of finished products, goods imported by domestic manufacturers for export-oriented products, and goods manufactured domestically by small enterprises. According to the BIS QCO for the bolts, nuts and fasteners flush bolts the certification and enforcement authority for the listed goods or articles is the Bureau. The BIS QCO for the bolts, nuts and fasteners flush bolts aims to ensure the quality control of bolts, nuts, and fasteners in the public interest, utilizing the powers conferred by the BIS act, 2016.
