THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE). IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (BIS QCO) FOR THE BOLTS, STAINLESS STEEL TOWER BOLTS IS 15833:2009

OVERVIEW

21st JULY 2023

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a significant Quality Control Order on July 21, 2023, targeting the production and distribution of bolts, nuts, stainless steel tower bolts

The order, officially named "The Bolts, Nuts and Fasteners (Quality Control) Order, 2023,"

It is scheduled to take effect six months from its publication date.

However, Small and Micro Enterprises have specific timelines for compliance, providing a thoughtful consideration for varying business sizes.

The order mandates the use of a Standard Mark on goods, aligning with specified Indian Standards, requiring a Bureau license.

Exceptions include goods for export, those imported as part of finished goods, and items for export-oriented production. Enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal" enjoy exemptions based on financial limits, promoting inclusivity and supporting smaller businesses.

The order emphasizes the consequences of non-compliance. Any individual found contravening the provisions of this order will face penalties as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This strict approach is meant to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the quality control measures.
