Dear Viewer,
THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE). IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (BIS QCO) FOR THE ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES (LIVE WORKING GLOVES OF INSULATING MATERIAL).
1st JANUARY 2023
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, specifically the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued an order in New Delhi on January 1, 2024, exercising powers granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This order, titled the "Electrical Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2023," aims to ensure the quality of certain goods or articles falling under its purview.
BIS QCO for the electrical accessories (live working gloves of insulating material) mandates the compulsory use of a Standard Mark for specified goods or articles listed in Table-1 and Table-2. These items must conform to the relevant Indian Standard mentioned in the corresponding columns and display the Standard Mark. This compliance requires obtaining a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this BIS QCO for the electrical accessories (live working gloves of insulating material) doesn't apply to goods or articles produced domestically for export. Additionally, there are specific timelines for compliance based on enterprise size: for small enterprises, the order comes into force after nine months from the date of publication, while for micro enterprises; it takes effect after twelve months.
For goods or articles specified in Table-2, the BIS QCO for the electrical accessories (live working gloves of insulating material) comes into force after eighteen months from the date of publication. The Bureau is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles mentioned in the Tables.
(Live working gloves of insulating material are safety gloves used by electrical workers to protect themselves while handling live electrical components. These gloves are made from special materials to prevent electric shocks during maintenance or repairs.)
