BIS QCO FOR THE FLUX CORED SOLDER WIRE

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued an order on September 18, 2023, using powers granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This order, titled the "Flux Cored Solder Wire (Quality Control) Order, 2023," becomes effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.

BIS QCO for the flux cored solder wire mandates that specified goods or articles in the Table adhere to corresponding Indian Standards and display the Standard Mark through a license from the Bureau, following Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

BIS QCO for the flux cored solder wire also mandates that goods or articles of Flux Cored Solder Wire adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 1921:2005 and bear the Standard Mark.

Exceptions are made for domestically manufactured goods intended for export. For micro and small enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, compliance starts after twelve and nine months, respectively, from the date of publication. The Bureau is assigned as the certifying and enforcing authority for the specified goods or articles, and contravention of this order will result in penalties.

(The Flux Cored Solder Wire is a type of soldering material that consists of a metal wire with a flux core inside. It is commonly used for electronic soldering applications to create strong and reliable connections.)
