Important update on Indian Standard applicable to all current license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for steel wires or strands, nylon or wire ropes, and wire mesh (galvanized steel wire or galvanized steel wire with polymer coating) (Quality Control) Order, 2023

OVERVIEW

21st NOVEMBER 2024

 The Indian government in New Delhi, on November 21, 2023, issued a new rule about the quality of Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes, and Wire Mesh. This new rule is called the "BIS QCO for the steel wires or strands, nylon or wire ropes, and wire mesh (galvanized steel wire or galvanized steel wire with polymer coating)."

It will start working six months from the day it gets officially published. The government believes this is necessary for the public good and got advice from the Bureau of Indian Standards before deciding. According to BIS QCO for the steel wires or strands, nylon or wire ropes, and wire mesh (galvanized steel wire or galvanized steel wire with polymer coating) this rule applies to goods or items listed in the Table and says they must meet Indian Standards and carry a Standard Mark given by the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards will be in charge of making sure these rules are followed. Breaking these rules can lead to punishment under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
