BIS QCO FOR THE HINGES (CABINET HINGES)

OVERVIEW

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade vide order has issued the BIS QCO for Hinges (CABINET HINGES) order on 2023. The Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods. The Hinges (CABINET HINGES) shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

This Indian Standard was first published in 1950 and was subsequently revised in 1966 and 1978. Cabinet Hinges or Cupboard Hinges are used in every kitchen cupboard and also elsewhere around the house, but most people don't know that there is a huge choice of types and sizes that have a variety of different uses, before replacing a hinge in your kitchen or home you'll need to identify the specific hinge that you'll need. Hinges have been designated to provide an easy guide to users in selecting the size of a hinge for a particular use.

Hinges are a particular kind of hinge that have rectangular pieces that fasten to two different, parallel parts that close on each other, joining them and enabling swinging motion of up to one hundred and eighty (180) degrees. Like all hinges, butt hinges are made up of a knuckle, a pin, and two leaves. Steel is now abundantly available in our country and is being used for the manufacture of hinges. This standard was first published in 1989 and revised in 1997. Further, unequal flap hinges have been categorized into two types, light weight unequal and heavy-weight unequal flap hinges. In addition, provision for additional sizes of lightweight type hinges has also been incorporated.
