In India, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an important announcement through the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. The government is using its authority under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, to ensure the quality of certain products for the public benefit.

This announcement is known as the "BIS QCQ for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes and Wire Mesh (Quality Control) Order, 2023." It will take effect six months from the date it is published in the Official Gazette. Products listed in the Table must meet specific Indian Standards mentioned. They should bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. This doesn't apply to goods made domestically for export.

For micro enterprises: It starts one year after the publication date.

For small enterprises: It starts nine months after the publication date.

The Bureau of Indian Standards is responsible for certifying and enforcing the standards mentioned in the Table. Breaking these rules can result in penalties under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. BIS QCQ for the Steel Wires or Strands, Nylon or Wire Ropes and Wire Mesh Order emphasizes adherence to stringent quality standards, ensuring these hinges meet specified Indian Standards. 

The government is ensuring that certain steel products meet specific quality standards, and those not complying will face penalties. The Bureau of Indian Standards will oversee the certification and enforcement of these standards.
