THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE). IT SPECIFICALLY PERTAINS TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (BIS QCO) FOR THE SPORTS GOODS (STEEPLECHASE HURDLES).

Government of India ministry of commerce and industry (department for promotion of industry and internal trade) in the exercise of the authority granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), the Central Government, after discussions with the Bureau of Indian Standards, deems it necessary and in the public interest to issue the following Order: titled the "Sports Goods (Quality Control) Order, 2023." It becomes effective six months after its publication in the official Gazette.
BIS QCO for the sports goods (steeplechase hurdles) mentions products specified in column (1) of Tables 1 and 2 must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned in column (2) of these tables. They should display the Standard Mark under a license issued by the Bureau, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Exemption for goods manufactured domestically for export.
Micro and small enterprises, as per the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), are exempt until twelve months from the date of this notification.
Goods specified in Table 2 are exempt until eighteen months from the date of this notification.
Enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal" of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, with an investment below twenty-five lakh rupees in plant and machinery and a turnover not exceeding two crore rupees in the previous financial year, are exempt.
According to the BIS QCO for the sports goods (steeplechase hurdles), sports goods must meet the Indian Standard 12425:2022 (Steeplechase Hurdles). The Bureau is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for goods or articles listed in column (1) of Tables 1 and 2.
