BIS QCO FOR THE DOOR FITTINGS (DOOR CLOSERS - PNEUMATICALLY REGULATED - FOR LIGHT DOORS WEIGHING UP TO 40 KG)

OVERVIEW

 The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, has issued an order in New Delhi on October 23, 2023. This order, known as BIS QCO for the Door Fittings (Door Closers - Pneumatically Regulated - for Light Doors Weighing Up to 40 kg), is made under the powers granted by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

The order becomes effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette. It mandates the use of a Standard Mark for specified goods or articles listed in the Table. These goods, including BIS QCO for the Door Fittings (Door Closers - Pneumatically Regulated - for Light Doors Weighing Up to 40 kg), must conform to the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned in the Table and bear the Standard Mark obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

There are exceptions to the order. It does not apply to goods manufactured domestically for export purposes. For micro and small enterprises, defined in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the order takes effect after twelve months and nine months, respectively, from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.

The certification and enforcement authority for the goods or articles specified in the Table is the Bureau of Indian Standard. Any person violating the provisions of this order is subject to penalties in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. The aim of the order is to ensure the quality control of door fittings for the public interest.
