NOTIFICATION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF IMPORT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS FOR IT HARDWARE

THIS IS THE RECENT UPDATE FOR ALL EXISTING LICENSE HOLDERS, NEW APPLICANTS, MANUFACTURERS, IMPORTERS, AND PRODUCT SELLERS FROM THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE).

OVERVIEW

19th OCTOBER 2023

The Indian Government, specifically the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has some important news about importing certain IT hardware. They've shared some rules, and we want everyone to be aware of them. If you're part of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) or certain other units, and you're using IT hardware for your own purposes, you don't need special permission. You can also import parts and things needed for IT hardware without any restrictions. Some IT hardware, like laptops or tablets with big machines such as MRI machines or UAVs, doesn't need a special import license. However, if you're importing servers or laptops as the main items, this rule doesn't apply. Importers can apply for permission to import multiple times until September 30, 2024. If they need to change the quantity later, they can do it online, but the total value should stay the same. If you have questions, you can check the DGFT website for more information. This information is approved by the Competent Authority.
