BIS CERTIFICATION FOR MOULD STEELS IS 4430:1979

Product Description

BIS CERTIFICATION FOR MOULD STEELS IS 4430:1979

Introduction

Mould steels, also known as mold steels, are special types of steel made for creating molds and dies. These molds and dies are like templates used to shape and form various things, like plastic objects or metal parts. Mould steels have some important qualities. They are very hard, which means they can withstand a lot of wear and tear. They are also easy to work with using machines. Even when they are used a lot and exposed to harsh conditions, they don't break easily. This is important because molds and dies need to be very precise and durable. Think of mould steels as the strong and tough materials that help manufacturers create all kinds of products. They are like the backbone of the manufacturing process, ensuring that everything comes out just right.

IS 4430:1979 standard pertains to mould steels in the wrought condition, typically employed for manufacturing plastic moulds and diecasting components using low melting non-ferrous alloys.

REQUIREMENTS FOR IS 4430: 1979

1. The steel production process must utilize an electric method or another approved process mutually agreed upon by the purchaser and the manufacturer.

2. Every ingot must undergo sufficient reduction and removal of impurities to guarantee it is devoid of piping, segregation, and other detrimental defects.

3. The final material must exhibit an absence of both internal and surface defects, including but not limited to cracks, seams, flakes, pipe, and segregation.

4. Adherence to dimensional tolerances as specified by the standard is mandatory.

5. The finished product must undergo a comprehensive check analysis to ensure it meets the specified requirements.

6. As outlined in IS 1387:1967, the general material supply requirements must also be met.

7. Material testing is obligatory to confirm compliance with the standards.

8. Products with a diameter exceeding 50 mm or an equivalent cross-sectional area must be marked by stamping or painting with the manufacturer's name or trademark, grade, and cast number at the extreme end.

9. Optionally, the material may also bear a standard mark, commonly known as the ISI mark.

10.  It is essential for the manufacturer to secure a BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) license to employ the standard mark (ISI Mark).
