Product Description

Phosphorus trichloride, or PCl3, is a strong and reactive chemical made of one phosphorus and three chlorine atoms. It's a clear liquid that gives off a strong and unpleasant smell. This stuff is super useful in chemistry because it helps make different chemicals, especially in organic chemistry. One of its main jobs is to replace hydrogen with chlorine in other chemicals. This is important for creating lots of different organic compounds like medicines, bug-killing chemicals, and plastics. PCl3 is also used to make other chemicals like phosphorus oxychloride and thionyl chloride, which are very important in organic chemistry too.

But, here's the thing – PCl3 is kind of picky. It reacts really quickly and can even catch fire when it touches water, making hydrogen chloride and phosphorous acid. So, scientists have to be careful when they use it and work in controlled environments.

In a nutshell, PCl3 is a powerful tool in chemistry for making all sorts of important chemicals. Its reactivity makes it a valuable helper in the chemical industry, but you need to handle it with care.

IS 4581:2021 is a standard for Phosphorus Trichloride, Pure and Analytical Reagent. This standard tells us what this chemical should be like and how to check if it's good enough. Phosphorus trichloride is a chemical used to make other chemicals. It's like a handy tool in the chemistry world.

This standard makes sure that when people use this chemical, it meets certain standards. One important thing this rulebook does is tell us how to take a small sample of the chemical and test it to make sure it's the right quality. It's like checking if the ingredients for your recipe are good before you start cooking.

1.  This material should be classified in two grades:

Grade 1: Analytical Reagent

Grade 2: Pure

2. This material should look like a clear liquid that might be a little bit yellow.

3.  It should make smoke-like stuff when it's exposed to air.

4. You can mix it with many other chemicals, like ether, benzene, carbon disulphide, and carbon tetrachloride.

5.  To make sure it's good enough, we have a specific way to test it. It needs to pass this test to meet the rules.

6.  When you put it in a container, that container should either be made of special lead-coated steel or glass.

7.  On the container, we need to have some information: what the material is, which grade it is, who made it, how much is inside, and a special number to show which batch it comes from.

8.  We also put a special mark on the container to show that it meets all the rules.

9. The company making this stuff needs permission from a group called the Bureau of Indian Standards to use that special mark.

The following test shall be done in accordance with the method specified.

·       Test for Phosphorus trichloride %

·       Boiling range test

·       Relative density test

·       Evaporation residue

·       Test for Sulphate

·       Test for Heavy metals

·       Test for Iron

Benefits of BIS Certification

Getting BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) registration for your products has some really good advantages:

1.  More Sales: When your products have BIS registration, it means they're likely to be better quality. Customers trust this, so you'll probably sell more.

2.  Saves Money on Quality: Once you get the certification, you don't need to worry about extra quality rules because your products are already known to be good.

3.  Build Trust and Less Risk: BIS-certified items are real and reliable. They work well and last a long time, so there's less chance of problems or harming the environment.

4.  High-Quality Guaranteed: When a product has a BIS registration number, it's a sign that it's top-quality and trustworthy.

5.  Helps Your Business Grow: BIS certification makes your product's reputation better, which can lead to more growth and getting noticed in the market. It's good for expanding your business.
