BIS CERTIFICATION FOR PVC SANDAL IS 6721:1972
PVC sandals are a type of shoes made from a tough plastic called polyvinyl chloride or PVC. PVC is known for being strong, not easily damaged by water, and not too expensive. These sandals are usually designed for relaxing or doing easy things outdoors. They're comfy and simple to take care of. You can find PVC sandals in different styles like flip-flops or slide-ones. People wear them at the beach, by the pool, or just for everyday walking when it's hot outside. They are light and bendy, so they're great for casual wear.
PVC sandals come in many colors and looks, so there's something for everyone. They're also good for wet places because they don't mind getting wet.
PVC sandals are governed by IS 6721:1972. This standard outlines the requirements, sampling procedures, and testing methods for PVC sandals produced using the injection molding process.
The standard encompasses the following two categories of sandals:
Type 1: One-part sandals
Type 2: Two-part sandals
1. The PVC sandals must be crafted from a base material that meets the physical requirements stipulated in the standard.
2. The design of the sandals should be agreed upon through mutual consent between the purchaser and the supplier.
3. The dimensions of the last must adhere to IS 1638:1960.
4. Type 1 PVC sandals should be produced as a single unit using the injection molding process, while Type 2 sandals must be manufactured in two parts using injection molding and then assembled.
5. It is imperative that the PVC sandals are manufactured without any imperfections, such as shrinkage, burning, warping, or cold flow marks.
6. A well-maintained laboratory must be available for conducting various tests in accordance with the methods outlined in the standard.
7. Each sandal's sole must be marked with its size, along with the manufacturer's name or trademark, if applicable.
8. Optionally, the sandal can also bear the ISI certification mark. Packaging and marking should conform to the specified standards.
9. To use the standard mark (ISI Mark), the manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
