This versatile system is comprised of two main components: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. It has a primary source of refrigeration for cooling and dehumidification and mechanisms for air movement and filtering. Split air conditioners are classified as follows based on their function and nominal cooling capacity.

Classification by Function

·       Cooling and Dehumidification

·       Cooling and Heating by Heat Pump

·       Cooling and Heating by Electric Heater

·       Unit Type

·       Single Split having Single Indoor and Outdoor Unit

·       Multi Split having Multiple Indoor and Single Outdoor Unit

·       Unit Mounting Arrangement
