Single volume pipettes are special lab tools. They're used to carefully measure and move a specific amount of liquid. Unlike some other pipettes that can change the amount of liquid they hold, these ones always hold the same amount, and you don't have to adjust anything when using them.
To ensure the product quality of single volume pipettes, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made it mandatory for manufacturers to undergo BIS registration and obtain the BIS ISI mark before selling it in the market. Manufacturers can use the ISI Mark on their products only after obtaining a license from BIS that is granted after BIS registration. The presence of the ISI mark on a product indicates that it complies with BIS's stringent quality standards.
IS 1117:2018 covers Laboratory glassware Single Volume pipettes.
