BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SPORTS FOOTWEAR IS 15844:2010

Product Description

BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SPORTS FOOTWEAR IS 15844:2010

INTRODUCTION

Sports footwear is designed with precision and innovation to deliver top-notch performance, including features like water resistance, flexibility, and slip resistance, all while enduring wear and tear.

Additionally, these shoes are subjected to a flexibility test involving 100,000 cycles to ensure they remain intact without any cracking or damage. They are also subjected to chemical tests, performance evaluations, and construction assessments in accordance with the IS 15844 standard. These rigorous tests and standards guarantee that sports footwear is not only safe and durable but also capable of delivering exceptional performance for athletes.

To ensure the product quality of sports footwear, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made it mandatory for manufacturers to undergo BIS registration and obtain the BIS ISI mark before selling it in the market. Manufacturers can use the ISI Mark on their products only after obtaining a license from BIS that is granted after BIS registration. The presence of the ISI mark on a product indicates that it complies with BIS's stringent quality standards

REQUIREMENTS FOR IS 15844:2010

1.     To meet the required standards, the bond strength between the upper part of the shoe and the midsole/outsole must be at least 2.5 Newtons per millimeter for general-purpose sports shoes and 3.5 Newtons per millimeter for high-performance sports footwear.

2.     Sports footwear must flex easily from foot to toe and return to its normal shape promptly once force is released.

3.     An insole must be present so that it cannot be removed without destroying the footwear unless the footwear has a rigid sole.

4.     Up to ankle back height, the mass of the footwear will not exceed 800 g per pair, and for ankle height, it will be up to 900 g per pair at most (for size 8).
