REQUIREMENTS FOR IS 6911: 2017

1.     The general requirements for material supply shall be in accordance with IS 8910: 1978.

2.     Unless otherwise agreed, the processes used in the manufacture of steel and products are left to the manufacturer's discretion.

3.     The purchaser may be informed of the steel manufacturing process if so desired.

4.     The material must be of consistent quality in accordance with good manufacturing and inspection practices.

5.     Steel must be free of defects of any kind or degree that would be detrimental to its intended end-use.

6.     The chemical composition of the steel must meet the requirements of the standard.

7.     The manufacturer/supplier must provide material with appropriate packing to prevent damage and deterioration in quality during storage, handling, and transport.

8.     Every package must be legibly marked with paint or any other marking system that shows the name or trade-mark of the manufacturer, weight, thickness, size, steel designation, and the cast number or identification marks that allow the material to be traced back to the cast or casts from which it is made.

9.     The standard mark (ISI Mark) may be applied to each bundle containing the fabric.

10.  Manufacturers must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark).
