3.     IS 8910:1978 specifies general requirements for the supply of steel wires.

4.     Steel must be delivered semi-killed or killed. Steel wires must be drawn accurately and cleanly to the dimensions and tolerances specified.

5.     The finished material must be free of surface and internal flaws that would be detrimental to the material's end-use.

6.     Packing and marking shall be done as per IS 7557:1982.

7.     Each coil of wire shall be compactly bound and fastened, and a metal tag bearing the manufacturer's name or trade mark, cast number, diameter, mass, and condition of the wire shall be attached.

8.     Standard Mark (ISI Mark) may also be applied to the material.

9.     Manufacturers must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark).

10.  The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.
