BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL IS 15911:2010
Structural steel is a type of steel that is manufactured and used to construct structures such as buildings and bridges. This steel is regarded for its strength, hardness, and ability to withstand severe loads.
This standard's structural steel is intended for general purposes such as door and window frames, window bars, grills, steel gates, hand railing, building hardware, fencing post, and tie bars, and shall not be applicable for dynamic loading other than wind loads, such as platform roofs, foot over bridges, office buildings, and so on.
To ensure the product quality of structural steel, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made it mandatory for manufacturers to undergo BIS registration and obtain the BIS ISI mark before selling it in the market. Manufacturers can use the ISI Mark on their products only after obtaining a license from BIS that is granted after BIS registration. The presence of the ISI mark on a product indicates that it complies with BIS's stringent quality standards
This standard specifies the requirements of low tensile structural steel such as a plain round of all sizes, square of all sizes, flat bar of all sizes, angles up to 50 mmx50mmx10mm, tee section up to 100mmx100mmx12mm, and channels up to 100mmx60mmx12mm.

1.The steel shall be classified into three grades: E165, E170, and E215.
2.The processes used in steel production and further hot rolling into steel strips, sections, flats, bars, etc., are left to the manufacturer’s discretion. Steel must be killed or semi-killed, and all finished steel must be well and thoroughly rolled.
