BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STYRENE VINYL BENZENE

Product Description

BIS CERTIFICATION FOR STYRENE VINYL BENZENE IS 4105:2020

INTRODUCTION

Styrene also called vinyl benzene is a transparent liquid that easily turns into vapor and has a nice smell. Sometimes, it has other things mixed in that make it have a strong and not nice smell. It is widely used in the production of plastics and rubber materials.

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued styrene (vinyl benzene) (Quality Control Orders), 2002. As per this order, the Bureau of Indian Standards has made it mandatory to obtain BIS certification for styrene (vinyl benzene). Styrene (vinyl benzene) shall conform to IS 4105: 2020 and shall bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018.

To obtain a BIS certificate for styrene (vinyl benzene), the manufacturer must ensure that styrene (vinyl benzene) conforms to applicable Indian standards. IS 4105:2020 is the Indian standard for styrene (vinyl benzene).

IS 4150:2020 for styrene (vinyl benzene) specifies the requirements and the methods of sampling and testing for styrene (vinyl benzene). At 27°C, the material shall be a clear liquid free of sediment, suspended matter, and undissolved water. The material shall also meet the requirements of the standard.

There will be two grades of material:

Grade 1: Used in the plastics industry

Grade 2: Used in the Rubber industry
