The following appliances are examples of those that fall under the scope of this standard:

·       Radiant heaters

This standard addresses the safety requirements for the electric radiator (room heaters). However, this standard does not address the performance requirements, which are addressed in a separate standard.

REQUIREMENTS FOR IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 30)

1.     The product must also meet the safety requirements of the standard.

2.     Labeling and marking shall be done as per the requirements of IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 30):2007.

3.     The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) may also be applied on radiators (room heaters). BIS grant certificate to use the standard mark (ISI Mark) for goods under the product certification program.

4.     The certificate can only be given if the product meets the BIS's product specifications.

5.     The manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark).

·       Electric strength test

·       Functional test

·       Protection against access to live parts

·       Provision for Earthing

·       Power input and current

·       Heating

·       Moisture resistance

·       Leakage current and electric strength
