The pipe shall be classified by the pressure ratings (working pressure) at 27°C as follows:

1.     The pipe shall be made primarily of polyvinyl chloride, to which only those additives may be added that are necessary to facilitate the manufacture of sound pipe with a good surface finish, mechanical strength, and capacity under use conditions.

2.     All pipes must be clearly and indelibly marked with the Manufacturer's name or trademark, outside diameter, class of pipe and pressure rating, and batch number as per specification.

3.     The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) may also be applied to each pipe. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark).
