Manufacturers can use the ISI Mark on their products only after obtaining a license from BIS that is granted after BIS registration. The presence of the ISI mark on a product indicates that it complies with BIS's stringent quality standards.

BIS CERTIFICATION FOR TOOL STEEL FORGINGS IS 13387: 1992

INTRODUCTION

Steel forgings are metal components that have been molded and created via the forging process, which includes using force to shape and deform the material while it is still solid. It is widely used in industries, including automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, construction, and industrial machinery.

To ensure the product quality of steel forgings, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made it mandatory for manufacturers to undergo BIS registration and obtain the BIS ISI mark before selling it in the market. Manufacturers can use the ISI Mark on their products only after obtaining a license from BIS that is granted after BIS registration. The presence of the ISI mark on a product indicates that it complies with BIS's stringent quality standards.

IS 13387:1992 covers tool steel forgings for metal forming. This standard specifies the requirements for tool steel forgings used in metal forming operations.

According to IS 13387:1992, Tool Steel Forgings for Metal Forming are classified into Cold Forming and Hot Forming Designations.
